Introduction
Lonely Porsche ("we", "us", "our") is a mobile application that helps Porsche enthusiasts discover independent meets, scenic drives, coffee runs and car shows across the UK and Ireland.
This Privacy Policy explains what information we collect when you use the Lonely Porsche iOS app, how we use it, and your rights regarding that information. Please read it carefully.
By using Lonely Porsche you agree to the practices described in this policy.
Information We Collect
Information you provide
- Email address — if you choose to link your account for cross-device sync. This is entirely optional.
- A one-time verification code is sent to your email to confirm ownership; we do not store passwords.
Information collected automatically
- Device ID — a random UUID generated on first launch and stored in your device's secure Keychain. This is used to identify your device for sync purposes and is not linked to your identity.
- Push notification token — if you grant notification permission, your APNs device token is sent to our server so we can deliver event alerts to your device.
- Saved and attended events — the list of events you bookmark or mark as attended, synced to our server if you have linked your email.
- Anonymous usage analytics — page views, filter changes, and taps on external links. These events are collected with a session cookie but are not linked to your name or email address.
- Location — your device's current location, used only on-device to sort events by distance and show your position on the map. Location data is never transmitted to our servers.
How We Use Your Information
- To display relevant Porsche events near you.
- To sync your saved and attended events across your devices (if you have linked your email).
- To send push notifications about new events matching your interests (only if you have enabled notifications).
- To improve the app by understanding which features are used most.
Legal Basis for Processing (UK GDPR)
Where the UK General Data Protection Regulation applies, we process your personal data on the following bases:
- Legitimate interests — for anonymous analytics that help us maintain and improve the app.
- Contract performance — to deliver sync and notification functionality you have requested.
- Consent — for location access and push notifications, which you may grant or withdraw at any time through your iOS Settings.
Data Sharing
We do not sell, rent or trade your personal information. We may share data only in the following limited circumstances:
- Service providers — our app backend is hosted on servers we operate. No third-party analytics or advertising platforms receive your personal data.
- Apple Push Notification service (APNs) — your device token is passed to Apple's infrastructure to deliver notifications. Apple's own privacy policy applies to this process.
- Legal requirements — if required by law, court order, or to protect the safety of users or the public.
Data Retention
- Your device UUID and associated saved/attended event data are retained for as long as your account exists.
- If you uninstall the app without linking an email, local data is deleted from your device. Server-side data associated with your device UUID is retained for up to 12 months, then deleted automatically.
- If you linked an email, your data is retained until you request deletion (see Section 8).
- Anonymous analytics events are retained for up to 24 months in aggregate form.
Security
We take reasonable technical and organisational measures to protect your information:
- All network communication between the app and our servers uses HTTPS (TLS encryption).
- Your device UUID is stored in the iOS Keychain, which is hardware-protected on modern iPhones.
- No payment card or financial information is ever collected by this app.
No method of transmission over the internet or electronic storage is 100% secure. While we strive to use commercially acceptable means to protect your information, we cannot guarantee absolute security.
Your Rights
Under UK data protection law you have the right to:
- Access the personal data we hold about you.
- Correct inaccurate personal data.
- Request deletion of your personal data ("right to be forgotten").
- Object to or restrict certain processing.
- Withdraw consent at any time (e.g. by disabling notifications or location access in iOS Settings).

Children's Privacy
Lonely Porsche is not directed at children under the age of 13. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children. If you believe a child has provided us with personal data, please contact us and we will delete it promptly.
Third-Party Links
The app displays links to external event registration pages, venue websites, and mapping services (Google Maps, Apple Maps, Waze). These are third-party services with their own privacy policies. We are not responsible for their privacy practices and encourage you to review their policies before interacting with them.
Changes to This Policy
We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. When we do, we will update the "Last updated" date at the top of this document. For significant changes, we will notify you via a notice within the app. Continued use of Lonely Porsche after changes are posted constitutes your acceptance of the updated policy.
