We are delighted to be invited to an exclusive breakfast meeting at the famous Leander club in Henley on Sunday, 16 August.
The club was founded in 1818; Leander Club is the world’s most successful single-sport club in the world. Leander Club has consistently produced world-class athletes and cemented its position as a global leader in rowing, winning 159 Olympic and Paralympic medals since 1908 – 62 of these being gold. We are home to heroes including Sir Steve Redgrave CBE, Sir Matthew Pinsent CBE, triple gold medallist Peter Reed OBE and double gold medallists James Cracknell OBE, Steve Williams OBE, and Alex Gregory MBE, Victoria Thornley and Lola Anderson MBE.
The clubhouse has a wide range of rowing memorabilia including a 1908 Olympic gold medal, a 1850’s Leander boatman’s coat and a fine collection of historic rowing trophies. The Club library holds the Hoffman Collection of rowing books which is regarded as a leading rowing book collection.
Ted Bainbridge will be giving a short talk at the breakfast about the Club and rowing at Henley. Ted has coached Henley winning crews as well as being a past Officer of the Club and is currently a Trustee of the Leander Trust.
Breakfast overlooking the river will be a buffet style offering the following: -
Bacon sandwiches
Sausage sandwiches (using quality local sausages)
Selection of pastries
Fresh fruit
Yoghurts
Unlimited Tea, coffee and fruit juices
We have capacity for just 30 places between 8.45am and 10am at a cost of just £18 per person.
