PCGB R19 Off-Roading at Land Rover Experience Centre

We expect most of you, at least once this year, have turned to your Other Halves and opined: “We’ve not been to Luton for ages….”. Well, you can rely on R19 to fix that with some aplomb.

However, we’re not heading off to support the Hatters at Kenilworth Road but driving to Land Rover’s experience centre at Luton Hoo Estate, a picturesque Victorian model-farm on the edge of the Chilterns.

Nestling in valleys through which wends the River Lea, the Luton Hoo Estate and House trace their roots way back to the great-grandmother of Anne Boleyn, Anne Hoo. The latter, born sole heiress to a fortune during the period of Henry V, was a renown prankster who would often knock before entering a room, exclaiming ‘Guess Hoo ?’

Perhaps not necessarily of initial appeal to our GT3-toting members, here’s your chance to expand your ‘skills-envelope’ by driving both Range Rover and Defender under the tutelage of expert instructors on all manner of off-road courses. It’s both confidence inspiring and great fun to see what these machines are built for.

The event starts bright and early at 08:45 and finishes at midday. Each group (comprising three people) will begin in either a Defender or Range Rover and switch halfway through the morning. Throughout the time you’ll be aboard as either passenger or driver, so you’ll have plenty of time to develop your own off-road driving skills as well as see how others tackle the same challenges. The cost of the event is £170 per person including refreshments, a substantial discount on the normal price. Wellies, plus-fours and deer stalkers are optional.
